Comments help teams collaborate while writing the document and let recipients exchange directly on the document content without back-and-forth emails.

Who can comment

  • Organisation members can comment as long as the document is not locked.
  • Guests can comment, unless the sender disables it for that share — see Guest access.
  • Anonymous readers (access via public link) can read the document but cannot comment.
Automatic locking disables comments when the configured delay expires. Configure locking

Create a comment

  1. Open the shared document.
  2. Select text / several blocks, or open a block menu from the handle.
  3. Click Add comment.
  4. Write the message, then send it.
To leave a global comment, open the Comments panel and add a comment without selecting a passage.
To comment on a task, use Add comment from the block menu.

Threads

Each comment opens a discussion thread:
  • Participants can reply directly in the thread.
  • Organisation members can be mentioned with @.
  • Once a topic is addressed, the thread can be marked as resolved.

Notifications

Each new comment or reply in a thread triggers an email notification to all participants in that thread. An organisation member mentioned with @ also receives a dedicated notification. Comment actions are also visible in read tracking.
