# Sort notes into a folder

> Link notes to a folder or document from the notes list using drag and drop

Quickly link your notes to a folder or document to keep the notes list manageable. The most efficient workflow: enable the **Triage** filter to show only unclassified notes, then drag each note onto the right folder in the sidebar.

## Sort notes by drag and drop

    In the notes list, enable the **Triage** filter.

    Only notes with no folder linked are shown.

  <Step title="Drag a note onto a folder">
    Drag a note from the list onto a folder or document in the left navigation sidebar.

    The sidebar stays visible during the drag.

    Release directly on the target folder — a confirmation appears.

  <Step title="Repeat until the triage is empty">
    Continue until the Triage view is empty. The main list now shows only sorted notes.

  You can also sort a note from its <Icon icon="ellipsis" size={16} /> menu, **Add to…** option, if you prefer searching over drag and drop.

## Remove a note from a folder

Open the <Icon icon="ellipsis" size={16} /> menu on the note, then choose **Remove from "\[folder name]"**.
